Further to the notice sent out on 13 June 2019, VISA was a part of industry workshops and seminars, with the main objective of keeping customers updated about BMSB measures.

VISA will assist you in keeping compliant to these measures, minimising impact on your shipments.

If your goods are Target High Risk Goods manufactured in or shipped from a Target Risk Country  between 1 September 2019 and arrive in Australian territory by 31 May 2020 inclusive, they will require mandatory treatment for BMSB risk.

They may also be subject to increased onshore intervention through random inspection.

Whilst the list of Target High Risk Goods remain unchanged from last season, the list of Target Risk Countries has increased from 9 to 32 with heightened vessel surveillance for Japan.
