All empty container yards in Sydney and Brisbane have imposed a new Container Chain peak season surcharge to enable the container yards to extend their operations to 24 hours a day, 6 days a week. This new charge commenced on the 16th of September 2019.

By opening 24 hours, 6 days a week, importers in Sydney and Brisbane will benefit from:

1. Lower truck waiting time charges at empty yards; and
2. Reduced Container Detention costs from more accessibility to de-hire empty containers.

Effective Monday, 23rd September 2019, a new surcharge will be levied at $27.50 per container.

The surcharge will apply to all containers de-hired from the 30th of September 2019 and all export empty containers picked up from the 30th of September 2019.
