Several shipping lines have imposed, without warning, a surcharge which they say is to recover the additional costs of vessel congestion in the Port of Sydney.

Those shipping Lines are, at this stage;
➢ Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC).
➢ CMA CGM
➢ ANL
➢ Ocean Network Express (ONE)
➢ Pacific International Lines (PIL)

VGL has delayed this notice while it made strong protests to the 3 shipping lines concerned, in an effort to have those shipping lines reconsider their actions.

At this stage these shipping lines have not changed their position, so VGL has no alternative but to pass on this congestion surcharge.

As per the below notice from MSC we must advise that all the following cargo will be subject to the congestion surcharge;
➢ Import cargo on vessels arriving in Sydney on and after 14 September 2020, other than cargo from the USA.
➢ Import cargo from USA where MSC took possession in America on and after 8 October 2020.
➢ Export cargo on vessels departing Sydney on and after 14 September 2020, other than USA bound cargo.
➢ Export cargo on vessels departing Sydney on and after 14 September 2020, other than USA bound cargo.

The congestion surcharge is;
➢ 20’ Containers: US$300.00
➢ 40’ Containers: US$600.00

As per the below notice from CMA CGM & ANL we must advise that all the following cargo will be subject to the congestion surcharge;
➢ Import cargo on vessels arriving in Sydney on and after 17 September 2020, other than cargo from the USA.
➢ Import cargo from USA where CMA CGM or ANL took possession in America on and after 10 October 2020.
➢ Export cargo on vessels departing Sydney on and after 17 September 2020, other than USA bound cargo.
➢ Export cargo destined for the USA on vessels departing Sydney on and after 10 October.

The congestion surcharge is;
➢ 20’ Containers: US$285.00
➢ 40’ Containers: US$570.00

As per the below notice from ONE we must advise that all the following cargo will be subject to a Transport Additional charge;

➢ Import cargo arriving on the following vessels;
o Norther Jaguar voyage 033S
o Maersk Surabaya voyage 034S
o Seroja Enam voyage 037S
o CMACGM Loire voyage 039S

The transport additional charge will be;
➢ 20’ Containers: US$325.00
➢ 40’ Containers: US$650.00

As per the below notice from PIL we must advise that all the following cargo will be subject to the congestion surcharge;

➢ Import cargo on vessels arriving in Sydney on and after 1 October 2020.
➢ Export cargo on vessels departing Sydney on and after 21 September 2020.

The congestion surcharge is;
➢ 20’ Containers: US$300.00
➢ 40’ Containers: US$600.00

VGL will also charge the following “pass through” fee, to cover both the administrative and funding cost of processing this congestion surcharge.

The fee will be;
➢ 20’ Containers: US$20.00
➢ 40’ Containers: US$40.00
