We wish to advise you that Patrick Terminals have advised us of a new charge that it has introduced from 4 January 2021.
This new charge, referred to as “Weight Amendment Fee”, will be charged where any import container, when weighed by Patrick Terminals, has an actual weight of more than one metric tonne greater than the weight disclosed on the relevant Bill of Lading.
VGL has no alternative but to pass this cost on to you where your import containers exceed by one metric tonne or more, the weight disclosed on the relevant Bill of Lading. VGL’s fee for this will be;
➢ $260 + GST per import container that is overweight.
We take this opportunity to remind you that the SOLAS Convention (Safety of Life at Sea) places an obligation on all shippers globally to declare the correct weight of all containers exported by sea.
To minimise your risk of incurring this new “Weight Amendment Fee” you should remind your suppliers to ensure they correctly declare the weight of all containers.
Should you have any questions or queries relating to the above, please do not hesitate to contact your VGL Client Relations Representative.
